Day by day

Day by day

Day 1: Arrival in Ljubljana

Dobrodošli! Slovenia awaits.

We will pick you up at the airport and take you to your hotel in Ljubljana, Slovenia's inspiring capital.

After a little sightseeing, your guide will meet you in the hotel at 2pm for an introductory briefing and a short drive so you can get to know your convertible. That night, you will enjoy a traditional Slovene meal with excellent wine, the perfect opportunity to talk about the adventure that lies ahead.

Day 2: Ljubljana – Jeruzalem

We will kickstart the tour by driving up the valley of the river Kokra to arrive at Jezersko, where we will cross over to Austria for a couple of kilometres.

After heading back to Slovenia, we will drop down to the Logarska valley, one of Europe's prettiest glacial valleys. After lunch, we will follow the Savinja River, navigating meandering roads until we reach our quaint hotel in Jeruzalem, surrounded by rolling vineyards. A wonderful end to a perfect day of driving.

Day 3: Jeruzalem – Novo Mesto

From Jeruzalem, we will head south through the wine-growing region of Haloze and into the remote pockets of Kozjansko.

Driving over the region's hills is a genuine delight and a real feast for the eyes. We will stop at Podsreda Castle for a picnic with a view, before more driving action in the afternoon. We will visit the iconic Otocec castle and uncover its many hidden cultural gems before enjoying some well-earned rest.

Day 4: Novo Mesto - Portoroz

On this day of the tour, we will visit Predjama Castle.

Found in the gaping mouth of a cavern halfway up a 130-meter cliff, this medieval marvel was once home of Erazem Lueger, Slovenia's very own Robin Hood. Next, we will explore Skocjan caves, subterranean treasure trove and a member of Unesco's World Heritage Sites list. In the afternoon, we will cruise to Portoroz, Slovenia's most beloved coastal resort.

Day 5: Rest day in Portoroz

Enjoy a day of relaxation on the Slovenian coast or hop in your convertible and explore the rolling backcountry roads of Slovenian and Croatian Istria, the largest peninsula in the Adriatic, where truffles, Roman ruins, hillside towns, charming coastal villages, will greet you at every turn.

Alternatively, you can stroll around coastal city of Piran, Portoroz's neighbour, and a real local gem. Another excellent option is a trip to the salt fields and outdoor spa in the Secovlje Nature Park nearby. After learning about the centuries old tradition of salt production in the region, immerse yourself in a thalassotherapy in a unique saline landscape.

Day 6: Portoroz - Bovec

On this leg of the driving tour, we will journey to the valley of the Soca River, famous for its deep, almost surreal, turquoise color. We will cruise past Kobarid, Tolmin and a host of little villages winding through magical forests as we go.

The day will end in Bovec, a thriving alpine resort which is perfect for avid adventurers and ardent leisure seekers. During the afternoon, you can take a cable car to the Kanin ski station, enjoy a round of golf, fish, go horseback riding, try mountain biking, take a swim or explore the WWI Kobarid Museum. Or, if you want to push it to the max, you can enjoy whitewater rafting adventure on the untamed Soca river.

Day 7: Bovec – Bled

At daybreak, we will navigate one of the most breathtaking roads in Slovenia, passing through the Trenta valley and climb up Vrsic Pass (1611m) with its spectacular mountain views, before then winding down to Kranjska Gora and Planica where the World Cup Slalom and Ski Jumping World Championships are held each year.

We will end the day by driving to Bled, one of Europe's most beautiful lake and mountain hotspots. With its glass-like water, picture-postcard scenery, and some of the highest peaks of the Julian Alps lighting up its backdrop, Bled is nothing short of magical.

Day 8: Bled – Ljubljana

From Bled, we will drive to the idyllic Bohinj Lake in the morning before hiking to Savica, a sensational 60m waterfall that cuts deep into a gorge - without a doubt, one of the most amazing sights in the Julian Alps.

On arrival, you can dive into the clear emerald lake or take a cable car to the Vogel ski station that stands some 1000m above the lake. Finally, we will continue cruising through winding roads, passing the towns of Radovljica and Kropa before reaching Ljubljana.

Day 9: Ljubljana, flight home

In the morning, you can venture into the old part of the city and explore the stalls of the vibrant market.

And, depending on the time of your flight home, you might have time to climb the staircase to the 16th-century fortification of Ljubljana Castle - a sight for sore eyes. On the flight home, you will have time to reflect on your epic Slovenian driving adventure.
